Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen opened the 13th EARTHtalks with a touching speech. After a pandemic-related break, our speakers, as well as the audience, brought a breath of fresh air to the topic of climate and environmental protection.
For the fifth time, the former Winterreithalle (Hall E) in Vienna's Museumsquartier welcomed us - once more under the honorary patronage of our Federal President.
The motto "For a Climate of Peace", inspired by the banners of the great Climate March in Paris 2015, was (more than expected) in line with current events (Ukraine war and pandemic).
We had the pleasure to welcome interview guests like Eva Rosenberg (director FourPaws Austria) and Lena Schilling (climate activist) onto our sofa. After the event, we invited everyone to network at the regional-seasonal organic buffet, prepared by various catering partners such as Gaumenfreundinnen, Wrapstars, Jugend am Werk, Andis Arancini and Zirp. The evening came to a beautiful end with interesting conversations around 23:00. The event was attended by about 750 people.
In the weeks leading up to the EARTHtalks, Juma Xipaia was the first indigenous representative to attend an audience with the Federal President at the Imperial Palace, where she spoke about the catastrophic situation of the indigenous peoples of the Amazon.

Doris Schmidauer opened the 12th EARTHtalks with a touching speech and the words "The Future is Female". After a politically exciting time, our speakers, and the audience, were filled with energy.
For the fourth time, the event was held in the former winter riding hall (Hall E) in Vienna's Museumsquartier- again, under the honorary patronage of Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen.
The motto "About Action and Justice" was chosen in memory of the former EARTHtalks speaker, Polly Higgins. Jojo Mehta (Stop Ecocide) and her husband Ian Lawrie were guests of honor in her memory.
Furthermore, we had the pleasure to welcome interview guests from Fridays for Future, Extinction Rebellion, Stop Ecocide, Klimavolksbegehren and Greenpeace on our on-stage sofa.
After the event, we invited all visitors to network at the regional-seasonal organic buffet, prepared by four different small catering partners. The evening ended nicely with stimulating conversations around 11 p.m.

Following an inspiring week of information, emotion and awareness raising for a more sustainable approach to our planet, Doris Schmidauer honored us with her opening words for the 11th EARTHtalks.
In 2018, the EARTHtalks took place in the former winter riding hall (Hall E) of the Museumsquartier for the third time - again, under the honorary patronage of Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen.
Following the event, the curtain opened and all guests were invited to the regional seasonal organic buffet provided by four different small catering partners, where the evening ended with stimulating conversations and networking. The event was attended by around 900 guests.
Supporting program
This year we complemented our program with the "EARTHtalks Academy" in different rooms of the Museumsquartier.
Because extraordinary times call for young heroes and heroines who open their mouth, take action and express their anger about injustice!
The EARTHtalks Academy was organized to provide tools for revolution, to answer questions and to give the participants tricks necessary for unleashing their talents, using media, leading debates, but also starting campaigns – and thus, movements. Numerous experts and celebrities provided their knowledge as speakers (free of charge). Thank you for that!

Visitor Record at the 9th EARTHtalks
For the 9th time, the EARTHtalks inspired the audience with an inspiring week filled with information, emotions and awareness raising for a more sustainable approach to our planet.
In 2016, the EARTHtalks took place in a new location – the former winter riding hall (Hall E) of the Vienna MuseumsQuartier – for the first time. The event was attended by 850 guests and also stood in memory of Freda Meissner-Blau - the patron of the EARTHtalks and honorary president of NEONGREEN NETWORK. Between the lectures, film clips from the ORF archive were shown, and companions of the former role model for the Austrian eco-movement shared memories of Freda through personal stories.
The afternoon program on the day of the EARTHtalks was moved to the morning and took place in a separate location at the Impact HUB Vienna for the first time. Networking during an organic breakfast opened up the opportunity for all attendees to discuss after keynote speeches by Céline Cousteau and John Thackara. In addition, start-ups with an eco-social focus - the "NEONGREEN (Ad)ventures" - presented their projects and ideas to promote sustainable development. The audience participated intensively in the moderated sessions, as did the presenters. On the evening of the EARTHtalks, one of the "NEONGREEN ad(ventures)" was awarded 3 start-up checks. After the event, networking started at the organic buffet.
